Some quick, unscientific snaps of the Squeeze LD of T2...

.
(the picture is inherently and permanently "squeezed" vertically in 4:3, unlike DVD's 4:3 accommodation)
(when set to 16:9*, the picture is "unsqueezed", yielding greater vertical resolution, it does look quite good)
(between-frame funkiness that happens when photographing running video)

*when setting the HDTV to 16:9, that is...

Also the phantom 16:9 light on the front panel of some LD players, like my CLD-D503 and 703, doesn't light up with this title.

I used the 703 for these pics, fed composite to a Samsung HLP-5085W DLP calibrated for LD with the Video Essentials LaserDisc.

The color on this disc is definitely richer and darker and while some scenes still retain a blue tint, there's a bunch of scenes that don't that are tinted in the THX remaster. Sarah's meeting with Silberman and her attack on Dyson, for example.

There's also a healthy amount of print damage unseen in the remaster.

Cool. So is little John Connor still a total douchebag in this version?

Looks pretty damn good from those pics. Very cool.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it run you? I've seen much lesser titles, like Grumpy Old Men, Free Willy and The Fugitive sell for $50+ on eBay, so I can only imagine what T2 would go for.

Sorry about being a stranger, I got this off eBay for $47 shipped, so I figured I got a pretty amazing deal. It seems like copies of this one average at least $90+...unless you get lucky!

...do you dare tread upon the staircase?
